Budhi Harlow is musician, composer, drum teacher, and dynamic performer. He has produced 6 albums all based on or inspired by West African Rhythms. He has been sharing his passion for music and dance to children and adults for over 14 years. Budhi has studied drum and dance all over the world; primarily in Senegal, where he lived on and off for 9 years. He offers professional training in the djembe tradition in Santa Barbara and Ventura, CA. Budhi also specializes in melodic percussion, including the zumo and tongue drums, and hammer dulcimer. He has collaborated with incredible musicians from all over the South Coast, including Stefana Dadas, Ray Tischer, Stephen Kelly,, Paul Forester, Dramane Kone, Ken Ryals, and Ted Lennon.
Creator of the Rhythm, Song and Dance Program, Budhi has designed cutting edge creative arts education. His program is seen all over the south coast in preschools, elementary and high schools, universities, special needs, brain injured, retirement and hospice. Budhi's work is alive with super vitality, drawing from a wide variety of deep, ancient wisdom traditions (especially African and Native American). His vision and action is to integrate Rhythm, Song and Dance into all aspects of our modern society. Lisa Beck
Lisa Beck is dancer, drummer, singer, and co-manager of Panzumo Entertainment. She has been involved in music and dance most of her life, and comes from a family of vocalists and performers. In 1999, she met Budhi, who introduced her to djembe drum and dance. Drumming came naturally, and she soon began performing with Budhi and others all over Santa Barbara and surrounding communities. Since 1999, she has performed as a percussionist and vocalist with some of the best musicians and dancers in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. In the past 2 years, Lisa has blossomed as an accomplished dance teacher and choreographer. She has worked with Hemalayaa and Yoga, Tribe, and Culture Films for an upcoming Bollywood DVD to be released in 2010, and with Vanessa Isaac and Hip Brazil. Her dance classes are extremely popular in Santa Barbara and Ventura, and she has most recently created her own drum and dance workshops for women: "Djun Djun Mamas" and "Women's Circle". Lisa is also a vocal coach and singer, and her angelic voice can be heard on 3 of Panzumo's recordings, "Enter the Panther", "Speaking in Tongues", available on iTunes, and "Audio Ritual". Panzumo Drum and Dance Ensembles
Panzumo, based in Santa Barbara, California, was formed in 1998 by Budhi Harlow, and has performed all over Southern California since inception. Steeped in djembe drum and dance, Panzumo creates an uplifting and transformational experience for all. Their live performances are unforgettable, and they are known for their collaborations with classical musicians, and dancers and drummers from other world traditions.
